Reporting a crime
If you are pickpocketed, keep in mind that Hungarian police usually speak very little English. If you know someone who speaks Hungarian, get them to call 312-3456 and ask for the pickpocketing department (Zseblopás osztály). Budapest is organized into 23 Districts and you must report the crime to the police station in the district in which you were robbed. Most have an interpreter on hand. If your passport is stolen or lost, you must visit your embassy.
